Delivery Director (Retail) – Global Digital Consultancy

Location: London (Hybrid; ~2 days/week onsite)

We’re supporting a global digital consultancy that delivers complex digital transformation and engineering programmes for some of the world’s most recognisable brands. They are now hiring a Delivery Director to lead delivery excellence across one of their flagship enterprise retail accounts in the UK.

This is a senior leadership role for someone who can combine commercial accountability, operational rigour, and enterprise-scale delivery management, while maintaining strong relationships with senior client stakeholders. You’ll be responsible for ensuring high-quality, profitable delivery across multiple programmes and shaping the future roadmap in partnership with client leadership.

What You’ll Be Doing

End-to-End Delivery Leadership

  • Own the delivery of large-scale, multi-workstream digital transformation programmes for an enterprise retail client.

  • Ensure engagements run smoothly, profitably, and predictably — meeting scope, quality, timelines, and commercial targets.

  • Lead cross-functional delivery teams across engineering, data, design, and product.

Commercial & Financial Accountability

  • Manage account-level commercial performance: forecasting, budgeting, margin control, utilisation, and contract adherence.

  • Support proposal development, scoping, and pricing for new initiatives within the account.

  • Identify delivery efficiencies and continuously optimise ways of working to protect profitability.

Stakeholder & Relationship Management

  • Build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders, providing visibility, clarity, and confidence around delivery progress and risks.

  • Act as the escalation point for delivery issues, ensuring fast resolution and proactive communication.

  • Work closely with internal leadership (engineering, product, sales) to maintain alignment and ensure delivery readiness.

Strategy, Governance & Continuous Improvement

  • Implement delivery governance frameworks across the account, ensuring consistency and operational excellence.

  • Introduce and champion Agile, Lean, and product-centric methodologies to improve throughput and delivery quality.

  • Shape the long-term transformation roadmap in partnership with client and internal stakeholders.

Team Leadership & Culture

  • Lead and mentor delivery managers, programme leads, and multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high performance.

  • Support talent planning, capability building, and organisational scaling within the account.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Delivery Director, Programme Director, or Senior Delivery Lead in a digital consultancy, engineering services company, or large-scale tech environment.

  • Strong background delivering complex digital programmes for enterprise clients — ideally within retail, ecommerce, or consumer-facing sectors.

  • Confident managing large, multi-disciplinary delivery teams across multiple workstreams.

  • Strong commercial acumen: experience with budgets, forecasting, SOWs, margins, and delivery KPIs.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, able to engage effectively at director and executive levels.

  • A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to bring structure, governance, and clarity to complex environments.
